The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) conducts one of the most prestigious state-level examinations in India to recruit candidates for key administrative positions such as Deputy Collector, Naib Tehsildar, Assistant Director, and Forest Range Officer (FRO). MPPSC Selection Process:–

The MPPSC selection procedure is divided into three main stages, designed to test the candidate’s knowledge, aptitude, and personality:

Preliminary Examination – Objective Type

Main Examination – Descriptive Type

Interview / Personality Assessment

Only candidates who clear each stage successfully are considered for the next phase of the recruitment process.

MPPSC Exam Structure 2025:–

The MPPSC exam is organized in three levels — Prelims, Mains, and Interview. The Prelims stage serves as a qualifying test, while the Mains and Interview determine the final merit.

MPPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

The Preliminary Exam is the first stage of the selection process and serves as a screening test. It comprises two papers, both of which are objective in nature:

Paper I: General Studies

Paper II: General Aptitude Test

Each paper carries 200 marks and is allotted 2 hours of duration.

There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in the MPPSC Prelims.

The marks obtained in the Prelims are not considered for the final merit list. Candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks in this stage are declared eligible for the Mains Examination.

MPPSC Mains Examination:–

The Mains Exam is descriptive and plays a decisive role in determining the candidate’s position in the merit list. It consists of six papers, covering a wide range of topics such as General Studies, Hindi, and Essay writing, totaling 1500 marks. This stage evaluates the candidate’s analytical ability, depth of understanding, and writing clarity.

MPPSC Interview (Personality Test):–

Candidates who qualify in the Mains exam are invited for the Interview round, which carries 185 marks. This stage assesses qualities like personality, communication skills, decision-making ability, confidence, and overall suitability for administrative responsibilities.

Final Merit Calculation:–

The final selection is based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Mains (1500) and Interview (185) stages. The Prelims scores are not included in the final ranking. Successful candidates are then appointed to various state government positions under the MPPSC.
